A lifelong advocate for gender equality, Miriam Cahn responds to social reality through visually arresting work. For this exhibition, seven collectors have lent pieces from their private holdings, spanning the black-and-white drawings of her early years, the atomic bomb and house series, her work on refugees, and the body and portrait series she is known for.

One of the defining figures of contemporary art, Cahn uses charged color and forceful brushwork to explore the relationship between the body and the world. The emotional force and social awareness in her work give every viewer a direct sense of why contemporary art matters.
